I know what you are thinking. Christmas in August? Are you crazy?

But I have good reason for these photos of St. Nick. I took a trip to Savers yesterday and could not pass up these purchases. I don't wait until Christmastime to buy my decorations; I pick up things all year, that way I don't have to worry about running around and buying decorations on top of all the other shopping I need to do when Christmas rolls around! And the best part, wait until you hear how much everything was. This entire lot, every picture included below, ran me under $15.

Now, you tell me what you would have done? Christmas cookie plates for $1. Holiday gingerbread houses for $3. Unbeatable! I have bins and bins of decorations stored in my attic. But every year, I like to add just a few more pieces to liven up the lot and add a new sense of holiday cheer to each room in my house. How do I do that while maintaining a budget? I visit stores like Savers and pick items that work with my already existing lot of goodies.

Savers is a thrift store that has a strong connection with social good. Each donation that is dropped off at Savers benefits a local nonprofit. So, when you donate what you're no longer using, you are actually helping someone in need. What a great feeling!

Just like your typical thrift store, Savers has a wide variety of items to choose from. There's clothing, kids' toys, books, records (I can't tell you how many people were looking at albums... I was amazed), jewelry, accessories, paintings and more. The inventory is unique at every location and turnover is fast. It's one of those places where you never know what you are going to find during a visit. That's all part of the fun, right?

My favorite score from the day has to be this four-piece snowman plate set. I can't wait to serve the kids some sweets after dinner alongside steaming hot chocolate. This entire set was under $5.

Have you ever visited a Savers before? What did you score?
